STEM Internships

At Evolve Teaching Alliance and Barr Beacon SCITT we are passionate about recruiting and training the next generation of inspirational teachers, who will go on to enthuse students in their subjects and make a real difference to students’ life chances.

If you are considering a career in teaching, and are currently in the penultimate year of a Maths or physics related degree, our STEM paid teaching internships programme is an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand experience in a school. It is a great way to see if teaching is the right career for you and is a gateway to a number of routes into the profession.

You will earn £1200 on our 4 week internship, which starts on Monday 10th June until Friday 5th July. Our internship includes:

  • High quality structured training facilitated by the Ofsted Outstanding Barr Beacon SCITT.
  • Observations of exceptional teaching.
  • The support of an outstanding teacher mentor.
  • A range of experiences allowing you to plan and deliver lessons.
  • The chance to support groups of pupils in lessons and through extra-curricular activities.
  • The opportunity to work with students considering a Maths or physics related degree to inspire them.
  • Continued support in an application to teacher training position.

Interns that successfully complete the course will be guaranteed an interview with the Ofsted Outstanding Barr Beacon SCITT partnership for a place on the course and will meet with SCITT Leaders during the internship to discuss routes into teaching.

Our internships are available at the following placement schools:

  • Barr Beacon School (Walsall)
  • Brownhills School (Walsall)
  • Etone College (Nuneaton)
  • Grace Academy Darlsaton (Walsall)
  • Ormiston Shelfield Community Academy (Walsall)
