"A Network that Collaborates"
A National Teaching School
Evolve Teaching School Alliance, based at Barr Beacon School is delighted to announce we have been selected to become a National Teaching School and our partnership is working within and beyond our locality. The Alliance partnership offers a network that collaborates effectively to share first hand outstanding training and practice on a wide spectrum in a variety of different Specialisms. Barr Beacon will take a leading role in recruiting and training new entrants to the profession, identifying leadership potential and providing support for other schools.
Introduced in 2011, Teaching Schools are all rated as Outstanding. They work with partner schools in an alliance to ensure high quality school-led initial teacher training and professional development opportunities for teachers at all stages of their career. They raise standards through school-to-school support, engage in research and development, and ensure that the most talented school leaders are spotted and supported to become successful Headteachers.
Sharing Best Practices
At Barr Beacon School we pride ourselves on the quality of our staff and the support we can offer our alliance schools. As a Teaching School we can now share our best practice with a larger number of schools. It is like being a Teaching Hospital where specialists develop their expertise. At Barr Beacon, we will train both new teachers and also those who will be the Headteachers of tomorrow.
Charlie Taylor, the Chief Executive of NCTL, has told us that we should be very proud of our achievement. We “have been recognised as a centre of excellence, with an outstanding performance and a track record of raising standards through supporting other schools.”
School to School Development
Our Alliance includes Barr Beacon School, Brownhills School, Elmwood School, Kingsland Primary School, Etone College, Bloxwich Academy and Dame Elizabeth Cadbury Technology College. All of our partners have distinct strengths and cover a vast range of needs and abilities; this alliance is unique as it offers efficient school to school development on a wide range of levels from the initial stages of a teacher’s profession through to Leadership; also offering the opportunity to develop expertise and skills in one of our partnership schools in special educational needs, in particular focusing on areas such as behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. We are able to do this through the strategically formed alliance in a range of good and outstanding schools.
Evolve Teaching School Alliance currently has recognised Specialist Leaders of Education from across the partnership in a range of subjects and stages. These Specialist Leaders of Education are currently able to support and share Outstanding practice to a variety of schools in order to continuously develop the quality of teaching, learning and innovative classroom practice, identifying tools to help sustain this progress.
